XMize Awarded NSF SBIR Phase I Grant for Pioneering AI-Powered EDA Router

We are excited to share that XMize has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This prestigious grant will support our efforts to develop an innovative AI-powered software solution that aims to revolutionize the electronic design automation (EDA) of custom circuits.

This project holds significant potential to strengthen the United States' competitiveness in the EDA industry, especially in the design of custom circuits, including analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), and opto-electronics. While the digital circuit design process has seen significant automation, custom circuit design remains highly manual due to the complex electromagnetic sensitivities and signal couplings that must be addressed. Our AI-powered software is designed to change that, reducing the time and cost associated with custom circuit design while ensuring high performance and security.

Key innovations of our project include:

  • Graph Search Methodologies: These techniques will help identify all routable regions of a layout, streamlining the design process.
  • Comprehensive Mathematical Models: Our models will ensure that all design rules are met, guaranteeing the performance of the final circuit.
  • AI-Powered Solver: This will allow us to find wire routes that meet bespoke design rules without the need for manual intervention, significantly accelerating the design process.

These innovations will enable faster and more cost-effective production of custom chips and devices, enhance circuit security, and lower the barrier to entry for the American workforce in the electronic design profession.
